Empowering Women, Unconditionally
Project Saheli is an initiative under the Arfa Saghir Social Welfare (ASSW) Foundation. The ASSW Foundation, a registered NGO under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013, was founded by the Ajmal sisters in honor of their parents, whose legacy of kindness and empathy continues to inspire. The foundation is committed to uplifting marginalized communities, focusing on providing educational support and extending a helping hand during emergencies.
Project Saheli: A Friend in Every Step
Every person deserves a friend who cares deeply, no matter their circumstances. "Saheli," meaning "friend" in many languages, reflects our belief in the power of friendship and community. We are here as your friends on the journey toward a more compassionate and just world.
Project Saheli is dedicated to the wellness of marginalized communities. Our first campaign took place in TikiaPara, Howrah—a densely populated, low-income area. Our aim is to close the gaps, break down barriers, and offer the knowledge, resources, and support needed for individuals and communities to rise above adversity.
We dream of a world where every voice is heard, every life is valued, and every community thrives.
Our vision is one where social and health disparities are bridged with compassion and understanding, and where our collective efforts create a brighter, more equitable future for all.
Our mission is to ignite positive change by addressing the most urgent social and health challenges faced by marginalized communities. We are devoted to empowering individuals and communities with the tools they need to overcome inequality. We believe in a world where everyone’s potential is realized, where health and well-being are universal rights, and where hope and progress guide us forward, hand in hand.
